The incredibly scenic Icefields Parkway makes the drive to Marmot Basin Ski area in Jasper National Park more than worthwhile. This road, also called Highway 93 North, takes you directly from the Trans Canada Highway just west of Lake Louise to the Town of Jasper. Marmot is an easy 20-minute drive south of the Jasper townsite, 414 kilometres (248 miles) northwest of Calgary and 287 kilometres (172 miles) north of Banff. There are numerous shuttle services to the Jasper area if you choose not to drive.Fully serviced with three lodges, a rental shop and daycare, Marmot Basin offers superb turns to skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. It has a vertical of 914 metres (2,300 feet) and 84 trails to explore. Typical of most resorts in the Canadian Rockies, it features glades on the lower-mountain and high alpine bowls surrounded by chutes at elevation. Terrain is evenly split between beginner, intermediate and advanced runs. There are eight lifts, including six chairs and two surface lifts.
