BACKCOUNTRY HUTS

hut backcountry wheeler rogers pass skiing by Amanda Follett

For the more adventuresome, backcountry huts are a great getaway from tourist-flooded town sites like Banff and Jasper. Accessed by foot or air, these remote settings offer true peace and quiet with great views, not to mention a base from which to access more remote peaks and climbs. While a handful of huts are found not far off the beaten path, the majority of backcountry huts take some effort and know-how to get to. Proper backcountry skills and evaluation of both the approach and the backpackers’ abilities are required. When you arrive, huts offer a simple but relaxing oasis in the wild. Call ZeeLINX to plan your wilderness experience or to suggest added perks, like a gourmet-catered meal at your backcountry retreat.
